[Up and Coming] Andrew Newling graduated in 2003 and is still creating new graffiti work in juicy candy colours, and is experimenting with new materials and techniques.

Dno as he’s known to most of his friends, was in his third year studying illustration at Swansea Institute, when I met him. I thought his artwork represented the youth of today in a cool and quirky way. The storyboards he produced for his end of year show were fun and entertaining but underneath a more deeper story was being told. Dno is a modest person who produces art work for the pure pleasure with no alterior agenda.

This is what he told me “Graffiti is a definate influence in my work particulary the ethics and ideas of free expression. I find inspiration comes from many different places.”

“Artists i like are: SheOne, Will Barras, Mr Jago, New Media such as Chris Cunningham, but I think the main influence on my work is music and sound. I’m always looking for ways to express the cultures and feelings im involved with. I constantly experiment with new materials and techniques and believe this the key to staying fresh.”
