“360 Days” is jam packed with high octane action, with wakeboarders pulling off some incredible stunts. The first time I saw wakeboarding at Wakestock festival I was really inspired, you can get pretty close to the action and there was a real buzz amongst the audience. This film gave me a bit more insight into the sport with boat, cable, pool sliders and winch riding across Australia, England. Scotland, Wales and Hong Kong.

The film is broken up into different chapers and you have a choice whether to watch the full length or mixes version and also UK or Worldwide. The riders are really pushing the boundaries, they look so agile and graceful they make it look easy. It isn’t til the chapter entitled “Throw Down” where you get to see the riders crash and burn that you can appreciate how difficult it is to pull off these tricks. And you can only imagine how incredibly painful it must be when they’re unsuccessful.

My favourite chapter is “Breath” where some incredible females perform and wow do they rip it up, nailing really impressive moves accompained by a awesome track which blends beautifully with the energy on display. In fact every chapter is put together perfectly with jaw dropping manoeuvres accompanied by just the right songs, music with attitude and lyrics reflecting the spirit of the sport. I spoke to Eban who shot and edited the film and asked him to tell me a bit about the film and his production company “Front Edge Tv”

Angel: When did the idea of forming a movie production company come about and what inspired it?

Eban Escott: My movie production company, Front Edge, has been evolving since 2005. I was inspired by the diversity of the wakeboarding and believed that there was a lot of known and unknown riders and locations out there ready to be filmed.

A: Have you had any formal training in media or are you self taught?

EE: I am self taught but have had many great mentors along the way. My brother, Damon, is an award winning cinematography and Rich and Steve Fisher from Media14 have been invaluble with advice.

A: How have you picked it up?

EE: Practice makes perfect and years of watching wakeboard movies.

A: Who edited 360 days and how long did it take?

EE: I did the editing myself and the whole project took 360 days … I tried to edit from location to location over the year.

A: Was it easy to get sponsorship and support?

EE: Not at all. Since it was my debut film sponsors are quite standoffish because they are unsure if you can deliver the goods. Its all about building a good reputation. All the money invested was my own.

A: How have you found the business side of starting up a new business?

EE: Challenging to say the least. I am not good with accounting, companies house and tax laws but you have to make sure you tick all the right boxes.

A: What advice would you give people who are also thinking of producing their own dvd?

EE: Start with some smaller projects first and don’t over edit with special effects. Let the footage speak for itself. Organise your music early as this ends up being a project in itself. If you have something you think is worthy drop me an email and I will ckeck it out and even get it podcasted for you if you like.

A: Tell me about the best part of 360 days project?

EE: Riding at the awesome locations when I am not filming :)

A: What current and future projects are you working on?

EE: We are working on our podcasts at the moment and plan to have a new one up every two weeks until the end of the year.
