International One - (Gig Review) Night and Day Manchester

International One are definitely a band making big waves, with praise from the likes of Ian Brown, Clint Boon and Zane Lowe and comparison’s being made to Stone Roses and Simon and Garfunkel I had high expectations of this band tonight.
The first thing that strikes me is the band look like a bunch of street savvy early twenty somethings who know how to handle themselves in a difficult situation on the wrong side of town, what I didn’t expect is the most beautiful and poetic sounding music to come out of them which instantly melted away all of my preconceptions and awoke my senses. The band even though young are obviously accomplished musicians with a rich velvety sound which resonates around the venue pricking up everyones ears and grasping their attention.
Robi (saxophone player) produces the most sensual notes which perfectly compliments Franco’s beautifully soft and pure vocal style. The songs are full of emotion and sentiment with catchy beats and poignant heartfelt lyrics that could raise anyones spirits.

Next up is “Moonshine and Roses” their latest single, the delicate sound fills the air with enchanting harmonies and serene acoustic guitar notes that drifts pleasantly into my ears. The crowd are totally mesmerized by the exquisite “Fantasies” an intensely powerful song which is full of bitter sweet passion and sincerity. This band has an abundance of spine tingling songs to move even the most solemn person.
International One played a really tight set lead by the supreme and consistent drumming from James, they perform with finesse and enthusiasm and I guarantee anyone that watches them live with rush home to listen to them on myspace.
