Jam with Robina - (Visual CD Review)

Jam with RoBina are a fantastic new band hailing from Pontrypridd, we invited the Crayola King Steve Rack to visually review their debut album “Visions of a Runic”.
Steve “Pink Room - The melody of ‘Pink Room’ grabbed me and took me on a journey. But what is the pink room? At first, I imagined that it was some cozy little hang out for chilling after a day at the beach. But as the catchy tune resounded in my head, the pink room became much more symbolic. ‘Pink Room’ is quite a fun, whimsical song that glides over sexual undertones, and this is what I wanted to translate into picture form. ‘Pink Room’ became this character that embodied summer holiday memories that include excitement, romance and sex.”
“ELC - ‘ELC’ is beautifully tragic. It’s emotional and it melts sadness. It’s dramatic and really pulls at the heart. The first thing that I drew was a melting heart with tears falling from it’s wide eyes. For me, this best communicates the song’s message in a very literal way”
“Visions - I liken the acoustic intro to ‘Visions’ to the build up to a fairground rollercoaster. The song evoked all sorts of colourful thoughts and feelings including love, hope, adventure, loss and great expectations. This is my favorite track by far.
For some reason, I began drawing the female character, almost as if she is the keeper of visions, or she is some sort of channel for great expectations to be realised. Her flowing hair travels through darkness and into light. At the bottom of the picture I drew the two band members heads, because this is their vision realised in music form.”

Jam with RoBina are an acoustic duo based in South Wales that comprises of Romano Marenghi and Mark Tambini. Opting to play stripped down and acoustic their sound has a beautiful rawness about it, that makes you feel that you’re in the room with them experiencing a private performance. The lyrics encompass their everyday life experiences and the music is unpretentious. Its refreshing to listen to an album not over produced and digital. Angel
